Training for Success

Training for Success (TfS) is available for school leavers aged 16 to 18. The programme is designed to provide participants with the skills and tools they need to gain to gain employment.

The programme builds confidence and enables the young people to be a part of a supported learning environment whilst then giving then practical work experience and a qualification.

There are three strands of TfS which are detailed below.  The learner’s needs determine which strands are appropriate.

  1. Skills For Your Life – provides learning support for personal and development needs.
  2. Skills for Work 1 – helps participants to gain the knowledge and skills to gain employment while achieving a Level 1 Vocationally Recognised Qualification (VRQ).  Upon completion the learner progresses to pre-apprenticeship, programme lead apprenticeship or ApprenticeshipsNI.
  3. Skills for Work 2 – available participants who are unemployed and have been identified as being capable of a Level 2 VRQ to prepare them for future employment.

Examples of range of training available:

  • Employability skills
  • Confidence building
  • Work experience
  • Industry related qualifications

Participants will receive an Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) of £40 per week which does not affect any family benefits.  Other allowances are also available such as travel and childcare depending on the individual’s circumstances.
