National Vocational Qualifications

To achieve an NVQ, candidates must prove that they have the ability (competence) to carry out their job to the required standard. NVQs are based on National Occupational Standards that describe the 'competencies' expected in any given job role.

BCW Training Ltd offer a wide variety of NVQ qualifications in the following vocational areas:

  • Business Administration
  • Hairdressing
  • Barbering
  • Retail
  • Plastering
  • Trowel Occupations
  • Childcare

 

BCW Training Ltd is authorised to deliver NVQ Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 in the above areas.  See below for more information.

Skills for Work learners must complete Level 1.

This course gives the learner the underpinning knowledge and work experience required to progress to the next level in their chosen occupational area.

Learners are required to attend class weekly in order to produce material in regards to their chosen vocational area.  This will contribute to achieving the overall Skills for Work programme.

All learners undertaking the programme must complete Essential Skills Numeracy and Literacy at the appropriate level unless they can provide exemptions.

All learners will also undertake Life Skills qualifications.

Programme LED

Two year programme aimed at school leavers who have not gained employment within their desired occupational area.

Year one – all learners will complete a Technical Certificate at Level 2.

Year two – learners will complete an NVQ Level 2 Diploma Certificate.

Learners are required to attend class weekly in order to build a portfolio of evidence, throughout the two year programme learners will be assessed using a range methods including product evidence, workplace observations, written reports, assignments and examinations.

All learners undertaking the programme must complete Essential Skills Numeracy and Literacy at the appropriate level unless they can provide exemptions. All learners will also undertake Life Skills qualifications.

 

ApprenticeshipNI

ApprenticeshipNI Level 2 is designed for those currently employed within a chosen vocational environment.

Learners will be required to attend day release class as agreed with their employer.

Learners will complete a Level 2 Technical Certificate and a Level 2 NVQ Diploma.

Throughout the course learners will be assessed using a range methods including product evidence, workplace observations, written reports, assignments and examinations.

All learners undertaking the ApprenticeshipNI programme must complete Essential Skills Numeracy and Literacy at the appropriate level unless they can provide exemptions.

 

Private

All Private Level 2 learners will be required to complete a Level 2 NVQ Certificate.

All learners will need to attend class in order to gain underpinning knowledge and must have regular access to a suitable placement.

Throughout the course learners will be assessed using a range of methods including product evidence, workplace observations, oral/written questions and written reports.

Private

All Private Level 3 learners will be required to complete a Level 3 NVQ Certificate.

All learners will need to attend class in order to gain underpinning knowledge and must have regular access to a suitable placement.

Throughout the course learners will be assessed using a range of methods including product evidence, workplace observations, oral/written questions and written reports.
